The NCH London Essay Competition is open to students who are currently in their penultimate (second to last) year of secondary education, year 12, and who are interested in studying humanities or social sciences at university. T he Royal Commonwealth Society of Canada (RCS) focus is based on affecting education to the young people of all ages across Canada and the Commonwealth of Nations. Fifty percent of the Commonwealth is aged 25 or under and the skills, innovation and creativity of these young people represent an incredible opportunity in which we believe the Commonwealth must invest.

Each year the Department of Psychology holds an essay competition for Sixth Form students. This year over 100 essays were received from schools across the country, answering one of two questions: “Is reason the master of emotions, or are emotions the master of reason?” or.

Although The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition is international, there is also a Welsh Winner!. We at RCS Wales run the PKV Prize, a cash reward for the best essay written by a Welsh student. The PKV Prize is named after Mr P K Verma, the original Chairman of RCS Wales. His son, the current Chairman, Mr R Verma, set it up.

Instructions for entrants and essay questions are provided for the Kelvin, Thomas Campion and Vellacott prizes on the lefthand side as attachments. The competition is open to Year 12 and Year 13 students. Students can only submit one essay.
